The tile is original. I would love to re-do the flooring but I just bought a new refrigerator and dishwasher so that's out for awhile. The oven is what sold me on the house!! I peered through the front porch window and my mind was made up right there and then. It took my husband a bit longer. :)
I LOVE YOUR STOVE. Oh, I'm having range envy, big time. My son and I went to a commercial restaurant supply house looking for bar equipment and they had a vintage range in the lobby! I almost bought it on the spot but the farmer would have killed me, we had just purchase a new range a year earlier. Darn, darn, darn!
I love the post on white kitchens. We are in the process of the build where I am starting to make decisions on cabinets, counter tops, etc. I LOVE the white kitchen and am going to do a version of that. I am debating what to do with my island. Paint it a different color...maybe black or deep avocado with maybe a wood top??? Not sure just yet! Would love suggestions. My style tends to go formal....but with 2 boys I want it to be relaxed at the same time. I missed you when you were gone. I read everyday just feel so crazy I don't always get to leave a message. Love to all, Cousin Sasha
I love when I see your name in the comments!! Are you getting any help from a designer or going it alone. So many decisions. I also heard you are building a suite just for your parents. I guess my mom is wondering where hers is (ha ha). My style tends toward formal/traditional as well but I like a twist of personality or spark of color. I'm always searching for inspiration but mostly just go with my own taste and intuition. Stacey is my sounding board. Her taste is different from mine but she has a great eye.

♥ ♥ Thank you so much for stopping by and visiting -- barefoot in the orchard ♥ ♥
One of my favorite memories was walking barefoot in our apricot orchard. That was years ago, and it's still one of the first things that comes to mind when searching my life's memories.
It is unbearable for me to think about my beautiful orchard and the many others that surrounded it now only exist in my memory -- long ago replaced by houses. I prefer to keep those images in my mind as if it were only yesterday...
It's a beautiful summer morning, I'm 12 years old, outside my cat Peewee (a big yellow tabby with a bobbed tail) greets me. I head straight out into the orchard. The branches overhead hang low and heavy -- and the sweet smell of apricots fill the air. Running faster and farther with each step -- the seemingly never-ending rows of trees stretch out before me. I can feel the warm sun on my face and the cool feel of the dirt under my feet. ~

I thought that floor plan was interesting as well. There are so many wonderful design choices out there!!
Thanks for the comment Lisa.
Your kitchen is sooooo cute. I love the black and white tile. Is it original? Great oven too!!!! Very 1950's.

I adore white kitchens! I dream of them! Mine is decidedly unwhite. One day...
